With a road trip just around the corner, we were in need of a compact stroller that took up way less space than our bulky off road buggy. After a lot of field testing in shops, I finally settled on the Silver Cross Avia– a lightweight, versatile little fold away number.

The super light Avia weighs just 5.5kg and is suitable from birth up to 20kg – perfect for our quickly growing boy. The buggy boasts a compact, convenient fold, Avia offers the perfect combination of comfort and practicality. Armed with a compact easy fold mechanism, it folds from the middle which makes it easy to store and transport which is exactly what we need for both our summer road trip and for any flights we choose to take. The lightness makes it easy to handle once folded and dispite its lightweight  features, the Avia is robust and strong.

I was surprised by the extra roomy seat. Eddison isn’t small, but he fits in and has plenty of room to grow. The Avia has an adjustable backrest and calf rest, plus a full lie-flat recline so unlike a lot of strollers it can be used with a new born. Importantly, the multi-function hood has UPF50+ sun protection, a pop-out visor and a unique roll-up panel to keep baby cool which is going to be vital in the French and Spanish sun. The underslung storage gives a bit of extra carry space and you can fit a surprising amount under the seat.

Silver Cross gear is notoriously reliable. Steeped in tradition, the Avia combines practicality and class making it a brilliant choice for a road trip buggy. Most importantly, the baby loves it and that says a lot (he’s very fussy). Silver Cross have got it exactly right with the Avia and with a very reasonable price tag, it is a great addition to any baby walking arsenal. On flat roads and paths, pushing is effortless and surprisingly smooth. What I like most about the stroller is that it folds down to almost nothing, leaving loads of extra space in the boot of the car.

Overall, as a travel companion or even as a daily user, the Avia has surpassed my expectations. Highly reccommended if you’re a family on the go this summer!
